Gunfire Exchange Between TNI Security Forces and TPNPB, Four Injured in Dekai"

DEKAI, Olemah.Com - Another gunfire exchange has occurred between the Indonesian National Army (TNI) security forces from Post Koramil 1715/06 Yahukimo and the West Papua National Liberation Army (TPNPB) of the Free Papua Movement (OPM) led by Elkius Kobak. The incident took place in Dekai District, Yahukimo Regency, Papua Mountains, on Monday (05/02/2024) at 20:45 WIT.

In the incident, four individuals were injured. Three of them were members of Post Koramil 1715/06 Yahukimo, while one was a civilian. The injured military personnel were identified as SR, PL, and Sdr Domi, while SS sustained minor injuries from the attack.

According to an official statement from the Commander of Post Koramil 1715/06 Yahukimo, the assault was carried out by the TPNPB OPM group under the leadership of Elkius Kobak. Following the incident, the victims were evacuated for initial medical treatment at the Dekai Regional General Hospital (RSUD) by medical teams.

"The three victims who sustained gunshot wounds are receiving serious medical treatment at RSUD Dekai," stated the Commander.

Currently, security forces are maintaining vigilance in the vicinity of the incident location to anticipate possible follow-up attacks from the TPNPB OPM group under Elkius Kobak's leadership.
